From The Field
This site used to be the home of my 2010 World Cup soccer blog, From The Field: The Big South African Soccer Game Drive. It was a walking commentary on my travels during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Below you’ll find my final post from that blog, along with information on my new soccer blog, Total Footblog.
CHECK OUT MY NEW BLOG: And Farewell To This Piece Of Shyte
I wanted to thank everyone who wasted took their time reading From The Field: The Big South African Soccer Game Drive. I managed to produce 61 posts in 59 days. And we had more than a thousand views, which is pretty good given the size of my intended audience of family and friends.
The blog’s busiest day was Saturday, June 19, when I posted about the injustice dished out to the American national team by that ref from Mali, the imaginary wocka wocka controversy between Shakira and Fozzie Bear, and a relatively brief review of recent games. On average, the blog received 18 visits per day.
Since we all know that my list of family and friends doesn’t even come close to 18 people, where did these other viewers come from? What were the most common searches that brought strangers to our shores? You’ll get a (free) kick out of this, ranked in order:
1) shakira fozzy bear
2) shakira wocka
3) royal buttfucking stadium
You couldn’t make this stuff up, even though I actually did. The joke about Shakira being sued by Fozzie Bear continues to this day (three hits yesterday). And apparently we weren’t the only clowns who thought Rustenburg’s Royal Bafokeng Stadium was far more worthy of being the Royal Buttfucking Stadium.
THE NEW BLOG
For those of you interested in an ongoing blog about the game, I’ve just launched my new soccer blog at TotalFootblog.wordpress.com. Eventually it will reside at TotalFootblog.com.
Total Footblog: The Crossroads of Global Football & American Soccer will be more about the game than any particular travel experience. So expect more of the same shit, but focusing on the EPL, Serie A, La Liga, MLS, and Champions League. I’ll also cover international competitions, such as Euro 2012 and the build-up for Brazil 2014. There will be plenty of commentary on teams, players, coaches, strategies, games, leagues, and the sport itself.
I’ll be migrating this blog over to that one shortly. And I may launch additional blogs in the near future. You’ll be able to find links to those and others here at this site.
So that’s all for now. In the words of the late actress and former vice-presidential candidate Marylin Chambers, “thanks for coming.”
